NOV 11, 2020 – Today is Veterans Day and we would like to recognize all veterans for their service to our country. We deeply appreciate your sacrifice for our freedoms.
For this episode we are joined by Eugene Hairston, Vietnam veteran and author of the book, A Quiet Voice. Eugene struggled for years with the affects of PTSD and addiction after returning home from the war. He credits his success in sobriety to the help that he received from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the support of other veterans and the acceptance of people he has met in recovery programs.
For the past 20+ years, Eugene has helped other veterans find recovery. In addition to his work at the VA, Eugene is a motivational speaker and ordained minister. His book, A Quiet Voice, chronicles his story of survival from childhood abuse, addiction, PTSD, incarceration and homelessness.
This podcast was started to get the word out that recovery is possible, no matter what situation you may find yourself in. Whether you are struggling with addiction yourself or you are the family member/friend of someone who is suffering, please know that there is hope for recovery.
