News from NAATP

National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers Logo

The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) is a professional society whose members advocate for excellence in addiction treatment and better access to those services.

Since 1978, the NAATP has sought to “provide values-based vision, leadership, services, and advocacy for a professional field that is evolving in terms of clinical method and business structure.”

NAATP views Substance Use Disorder (SUD) as a serious public health crisis that current public health policies and treatment services aren’t addressing satisfactorily enough. Through education and training, policy advocacy, industry surveys and data collection, networking and leadership conferences, members of NAATP work to enhance public understanding of addiction and improve the delivery of addiction treatment services.

The Latest NAATP News

Assistance with Covid-19

In addition, NAATP understands that many addiction treatment professionals are operating in uncharted territory, seeking to help their clients even as restrictions on in-person gatherings continue in many states. As a result, they have created a series of educational webinars that help treatment providers understand key topics like telehealth implementation, business management, and executive leadership during crises. You can find all the NAATP webinars here.

NAATP 2020 and 2021 Annual Leadership Conferences

  • The 2020 Leadership Conference, scheduled for May 16-18 in San Diego, has been canceled due to Covid-19, pursuant to CDC guidelines. For information on refunds, sponsorships, transfers, and donations, please see the Conference FAQ page. NAATP will also communicate directly with members about options.

The NAATP team will continue to provide live webinars, videos, and on-demand sessions through the NAATP National Webinar Series.

The 2021 Leadership Conference is scheduled to take place from May 16-18, 2021 in Denver, Colorado.

Member Seal

  • Members of NAATP receive the official high-resolution Member Seal to display on their websites, which signifies to consumers the high level of professionalism embodied by members. Because some non-members have falsely claimed an affiliation with NAATP through the use of the Member Seal, it has been redesigned to prevent that access.

The new Seal can only be displayed after embedding a member-specific HTML code on the member website. The Seal automatically links to that member’s listing on the Addiction Industry Directory (AID). If a membership lapses, NAATP will remove the seal from that website.

New Board Member Robin Piper, CEO, Turning Point of Tampa

  • NAATP is proud to announce the election of Turning Point of Tampa CEO and Clinical Director, Robin Piper, to the National Board of Directors. Robin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Master Certified Addiction Professional in Florida, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She has actively worked in the behavioral health field since 1987.

Among Robin’s accomplishments are the development and implementation of two nationally recognized programs for addiction and eating disorders. She has served as CEO and Clinical Director of Turning Point of Tampa for the past 23 years.

The National Board of Directors serves as the NAATP governing body, representing addiction treatment programs across the country. Board members serve a 3-year term and may be re-elected.
