Founded in 1987, Turning Point of Tampa's residential
chemical dependency program is designed to serve clients
in a safe and stable environment. Turning Point of Tampa's
Chemical Dependency Program focuses on the development
of coping skills to deal with day-to-day stresses. This
approach encourages mental, emotional, spiritual, and
physical wellness. Turning Point uses a 12-Step model
for addiction recovery. Clients attend Alcoholics Anonymous
and Narcotics Anonymous meetings and obtain a sponsor
from the community. Clients meet one-on-one with a therapist
and actively participate in small groups and attend
educational lectures that address the underlying issues
of substance abuse. Most importantly, the primary goal
of the program includes abstinence from mood altering
substances and life skill development to prevent relapse
"triggers", as well as the elimination of
self defeating behaviors.
