Medication

Clients are required to give all personal medications (including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and vitamins) to the nursing staff upon admission. Doctor's orders must accompany all medications. When possible, we prefer clients to bring the actual medication instead of prescriptions. No oral medications will be accepted for use by the client unless they are in tamper-proof containers, unopened, and properly labeled. Over-the-counter medications are to be purchased after admission to treatment. All medications are kept in a locked cabinet, and clients dispense their own medication while being monitored by staff per physician directions. (Clients who wish to use their health insurance for medications are asked to bring their prescription card to treatment). Clients are responsible to purchase their own medications. We will assist in management of funds through the client's escrow account.

How much spending money do I need?

Turning Point of Tampa recommends an escrow account be set up for all clients. It is suggested an initial $250-$300 be deposited in this account for medications, medical bills, toiletries, cigarettes, and spending money.
